James Suckling 2021
Terlaner Primo Grande Cuvée 2018
97 points
Still very young, the toasty and leesy notes still a shade dominant, but with aeration an exceptionally wide spectrum of aromas emerge, from gentian root to exotic fruit via candid citrus. Stunning concentration and minerality that makes you sit up straight and pay attention! Super long and vibrant finish that has enough energy to carry this forward for decades. Drinkable now, but better from 2023.
Terlaner Rarity 2008

Nobody would mistake this for a young dry white, but it has great vitality for its age, combined with enormous depth and a harmony of rich and fresh, creamy and mineral elements that must be tasted to be believed. I love the oolong-tea aroma, but the lemon-jelly note is also enticing. Very long, subtle finish. A cuvée of pinot bianco, chardonnay and sauvignon blanc that dates back to this producer’s foundation in 1893. Bottled after almost 12 years maturation in stainless-steel cask. Drink or hold.
Porphyr Lagrein Riserva 2018
96 points
Incredibly intense yet subtle damson-plum and forest-berry nose with delicate, spicy overtones. Then, a densely concentrated but very precise palate that’s powerful, crisp and mineral all at once, the acidity lifting the super long finish beautifully. Great aging potential! Drink or hold.
Vorberg Pinot Bianco Riserva 2018
95 points
Deep and complex, yet delicate, this is an exceptionally concentrated and ripe pinot bianco. But it has a cool side, too, and that helps balance the toast and dried-pear character on the mid-palate before the dramatic, mineral freshness kicks in at the intense, long finish. Just beginning a long life. Drink or hold.
Nova Domus Terlaner Riserva 2018
95 points
The complex, toasty, fresh-herb and beeswax nose gently leads you into the generous and silky palate that has great textural complexity and spot-on balance through the very long, supple and mineral finish. A cuvée of pinot bianco, chardonnay and sauvignon blanc that dates back to this producer’s foundation in 1893.
Lunare Gewürztraminer 2019
95 points
Super rich and creamy, this has an almost liqueur-like quality, but combined with wonderful yellow-rose and rose-water aromas. Very polished and refined for this grape, which so easily tends to heat and bitterness. Very long, silky and delicate finish, in spite of 15% alcohol. I really don’t know how they did that! Drink or hold.
Quarz Sauvignon Blanc 2019
94 points
Tons of wet-stone minerality and wild-herb character, plus black and white currants, make this a very complex sauvignon blanc. Somehow, it manages to be simultaneously highly structured and lively in an uncomplicated way. Very long, totally focused and fresh finish. Drink or hold.
Gries Lagrein Riserva 2018
94 points
Very dense blackberry and forest-berry nose, but somehow it manages to be delicate too, black-tea and licorice notes developing with aeration. Concentrated and plush, the tannins are really fine for this often hard-edged grape variety, gently leading you into the warm and supple crescendo finish. Drink or hold.
Terlaner Cuvée 2020

The flinty minerality and intense wild-herb aromas set the ripe-citrus aromas of this concentrated, racy Alpine dry white alight! So much mountain freshness and minerality at the long, high-energy finish. A cuvée of pinot bianco, chardonnay and sauvignon blanc that dates back to this producer’s foundation in 1893. Drink or hold.
Monticol Pinot Noir Riserva 2018
93 points
The vibrant sour-cherry aroma of this extrovert young pinot noir leaps out of the glass at you. Ripe yet very focused on the medium-full palate, it also has a very good concentration of fine tannins and a complex, savory note at the long, very silky finish. Drink or hold.
Gewürztraminer 2020
93 points
In spite of the ripeness of this generous gewurztraminer, the yellow-rose and fruit aromas (apricot to lychee) are so very precise. Just a touch of curry leaves. Spot-on balance with mineral freshness that lifts the full body in a way that must be experienced to be believed. The perfect introduction to this category! Drink or hold.
Kreuth Chardonnay 2019
93 points
A graceful chardonnay, whose clarity and originality make it stand out from the crowded Alto Adige and global fields of ambitious wines made from this grape. Just a hint of smoke, but not in an obviously oaky way, the dominant force being the tart-pear character that gives the wine both depth and vitality. Long, clean finish. Drink or hold.

Chardonnay 2020

The very fresh lemon-blossom nose leads you into the very precisely delineated, sleek palate of this un-oaked chardonnay that’s very straight, pure and refreshing. Drink now.
Pinot Grigio 2020
93 points
This is such a sophisticated and subtle pinot grigio that lies well outside the mainstream for this popular grape, the melon, peach and wild-herb aromas filling out the medium-bodied palate neatly, the long, supple finish tingling with mineral freshness. Drink or hold.
Winkl Sauvignon Blanc 2020
93 points
An effusively aromatic and expressive sauvignon blanc with notes of nettles, fresh mint and chamomile and wonderful raciness that accentuates all of this on the sleek, energetic palate. The ripeness is nicely underplayed, in a way that gives this enormously refreshing vibrancy. Very long, crisp, mineral finish. Drink or hold.
Müller Thurgau 2020
92 points
Although this is a rather light dry white, it’s not fruit-driven. Rather, the notes of white-thorn blossom, licorice and wild herbs are all very intense. Very crisp and mineral on the palate with some allspice at the long, super clean finish. Drink or hold.
Pinot Bianco 2020
92 points
A very striking pinot bianco that combines concentration and elegance with stony minerality. Hints of exotic fruit, flowers and spices make this a fascinating expression of this still underrated grape. Drink or hold.
Lagrein Rosé 2020
90 points
This bone-dry, full-bodied rosé has a very interesting interplay of tart nectarines and strawberries with leafy and savory character that might not appeal to everyone. But we find it fascinating and very distinctive. Long, very crisp berry and herb finish.
Pinot Noir 2020
90 points
A fruit-driven pinot noir that also offers plenty of rooty character and good substance. Very well judged tannins carry the fullish body very well. Lively and quaffable, in spite of 13.5% alcohol. Drink or hold.
